Effective Date: April 23, 2026
Walk the World: Virtual Trails ("the App") is designed to turn your everyday steps into virtual adventures across the world's most iconic trails. We believe privacy should be as simple as lacing up your shoes - so we've kept our data practices minimal and transparent.
The short version: We collect only anonymized usage data to improve the App. We don't require accounts, we don't store personal profiles, and we don't sell your data.
What We Collect Anonymized Usage Data We collect basic, non-identifiable metrics to help us understand how the App is used and to improve your experience. This includes:
How many users complete a walk each day General app performance and crash reports Aggregated feature usage (e.g., which trails are most popular) This data cannot be used to identify you personally.
Marketing Analytics (Optional) If you accept App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permissions on your device, Walk the World may use third-party services (such as Meta) to help us market the App and find more users like you. This data is used solely for advertising purposes and is handled according to the privacy policies of those third-party platforms.
You can decline these permissions at any time via your device settings, and your core App experience will remain unchanged.
What We Don't Collect No user accounts: The App does not require registration, login, or any personal profile. No personal identifiers: We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other directly identifying information. No precise location data: Your walking progress is tracked on-device; we do not collect or store your real-world GPS coordinates. No health data: We do not access or store data from Apple Health, Google Fit, or similar services.
How We Use Your Data We use anonymized usage data to: Monitor and improve App performance Understand which features and trails are most popular Fix bugs and enhance the user experience If you've opted in to ATT permissions, marketing analytics help us reach new users through advertising networks.
Data Sharing We do not sell your data. We may share anonymized, aggregated statistics with service providers who help us operate and improve the App (e.g., analytics platforms, cloud hosting). If you opt in to ATT, limited advertising identifiers may be shared with third-party marketing platforms (e.g., Meta) for the sole purpose of serving relevant ads. Data Retention Because we do not collect personal information or require user accounts, there is very little data to retain.
Anonymized usage data: Retained for up to 03 months for analytics and product improvement, then deleted. Marketing identifiers (if ATT accepted): Retained only as long as necessary for advertising purposes, in accordance with third-party platform policies. Your Rights & Data Deletion Even though we don't collect personal data, you have the right to request information about any data associated with your device or to request its deletion.
To request data deletion:
Email us at [email protected] with your request. Please include any relevant device identifiers if possible.
You can also reset your advertising identifier or revoke ATT permissions at any time in your device settings.
Children's Privacy Walk the World is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Security We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect the data we collect, including encryption in transit and secure cloud storage.
Changes to This Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the App or on our website. Your continued use of the App after any changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
